What are Articles?
What are articles – Use of Articles: An article is a word used to modify a noun, which is a person, place, object, or idea. There are two types of articles:
- Definite Articles
- Indefinite Articles
1. Definite Article
This article is named the word ‘the,’ and it refers to a specific noun or groups of nouns. For example:
- The fish in the river.
- The students are in the class-room.
- Please give me the book.
2. Indefinite Article
There are two words in indefinite articles, ‘a’ which comes before the consonant sound words, and ‘an’ which comes before the vowel sounds. For examples:
- Majid has a pencil.
- There is a white car.
- A book
- A vulture
- An igloo
- An aeroplane
